With our winter sports coming to a close, it’s time to get excited about spring sports. After winter sports finish CIF’s, spring sports will begin. This will be around the end of February and the beginning of March. Tryout dates for will vary, so make sure you keep an eye on announcements if you’re interested in playing a spring sport. The spring sports consist of girls and boys lacrosse, coed track and field, boys and girls swimming, boys tennis, boys volleyball, boys golf, baseball, softball, and coed badminton. Check out the season previews for select sports below!
Lacrosse
Lacrosse season is among us! Your varsity girls’ tryouts are now scheduled for February 14th and 15th. Catch the varsity boys’ away game against Otay Ranch High School, and cheer them on at 6 P.M., Monday, February 28th. Mark your calendars, you don’t want to miss it. Pre Covid-19, our 2019 varsity girls’ team held a record of 11-8, their best season record yet. It’s been amazing seeing continued growth in our girls’ lacrosse players … and it doesn’t stop there. The boys’ team coached by Coach Buchauser remained undefeated (6-0) before games were paused due to Covid in spring 2020. We’re hoping for great results from our Pointers this year.

Track
The Point Loma High School track and field tryouts kicked off on Monday, February 7. As with all sports, the athletic clearance process must be completed before attending tryouts. Coach V and Coach Delong are the head coaches during the 2022 season, and the season will feature events such as relays, hurdles, long jump, pole vault, and more. In 2021, many of our Pointers made it to the top level of San Diego sports, including Sophie Compton (returning senior), Jake Richardson, and Manny Correia. Best of luck to the Pointer track and field team in the upcoming season.
