PLHS Upcoming Varsity Men’s Basketball Season

Updated: Feb 14, 2020

As the fall season is coming to an end, it marks the beginning of basketball season. Last year, our varsity Pointers ended the year with a record of 17 wins and 9 losses, a winning percentage of .654, well above .500. If you aren’t that big of a basketball person, let’s just say that’s a pretty good record! At the beginning of the 2018-2019 season, our varsity Pointers blew everyone away when winning their first 5 games and ended the first half of the season with 9 wins and 4 losses.

The second half of the season had a similar amazing start with our Pointers winning their first 4 games and ending the second half with 8 wins and 5 losses marking the end of the season. Though sad to see some of our varsity basketball Pointers go, with the new season soon approaching, some familiar faces are excited for the season to start.

Tyler Morris, a returning varsity player from last year, said, “I think that we’re going to do pretty well this season. This year we have a lot of varsity guys returning so that will definitely help out experience-wise. The thing that I’m looking forward to is the Coronado game. It’s been a while since we’ve played them at home and so it would be cool for all the seniors to get a win against our rival in our last year.”

Many others share the same excitement that Tyler does for the upcoming season and I for one can’t wait to see our very own Pointers dominate this year.
