Recently, pop singer Ariana Grande released a new single, “Thank U, Next.” The song is mainly about her experiences in relationships within the last year and how it has shaped her into a remarkable person.
The song begins with mention of her exes: Big Sean, Ricky Alvarez, Pete Davidson, and the recently deceased Mac Miller. She talks about how all these relationships have made her a better person. As a plus, all her exes seem to love the song. Sean approved it and Ricky seemed to enjoy his verse, posting about it on Instagram. Ariana thanks all the boys and even gives us insight into what they taught her: “love, patience, and pain.” She does mention getting married, but not to Pete and not anytime soon: “one day I’ll walk down the aisle, holding hands with my momma.” She further released a music video for the single on November 30th. People adore it’s Mean Girls references along with other popular chick flicks such as Legally Blonde, 13 Going on 30, and Bring It On. The video also features many notable celebrities including Kris Jenner, Jonathan Bennett (from the original cast of Mean Girls), and much of the cast from Ariana’s old TV show, Victorious. The song has hit number one across the charts and is by far one of her most personal and empowering pieces.
In the last year and a half, she has faced relationship issues, lost a loved one, and dealt with the tragic Manchester bombing. We as fans wish her all the best. Because even after everything that has happened, she has demonstrated inspiring strength.
