A Girl’s Dream Come to Life

Updated: Feb 14, 2020

It is no stretch when it is said that one doll has utterly dominated the toy world amongst young girls ever since it was originally released in 1959. By now, the name Barbie should have popped in your head. Practically every single girl in growing up in the U.S. has or has had a Barbie. For the even more hardcore Barbie fans, they probably had the Barbie Dreamhouse as well. Undoubtedly, many young girls have wished to live in their very own Barbie Dreamhouse, and it finally became time to make their dreams come true, well at least for a few of them.

During a short weekend, a few guests were allowed to stay at the real life Barbie Dreamhouse in Malibu. In honor of Barbie’s 60th anniversary, Mattel and Airbnb partnered to make this dream a reality for a mere $60 a night. What a deal!

The way these people scored this spot was by simply being lucky enough to book the room first. Seems easy enough until you realize how many other people are trying to do the same thing. The girl who won the trip had to make sure she was fully prepared before the clock struck 11 A.M. and the Barbie dream house went up for rent. Luckily enough for her, she did and earned the experience of a lifetime.

Not only did she and her friends get to stay in the ultimate Barbie fan’s getaway, but they also got to enjoy several activities to make the experience all the more worthwhile. These include a makeover, fencing lessons, cooking lessons, and a private tour of the Columbia Memorial Center. The people that they got to experience this adventure with were famous Barbie role models, including Jen Atkin, Ibtihaj Muhammad, Gina Clarke-Helma, and Jill Meyers.

So what would you do if you had this epic opportunity to live in the Barbie dream house? A cheap, amazing getaway sounds like a dream, to me! Hopefully this chance will arise for another one of Barbie’s anniversaries and make another childhood come to life!
