Senior Eve Norban, Class of 2023 Point Loma wrestler, made history this past season by winning the CIF Wrestling Championship. This is an amazing accomplishment in itself, but it is historical in that her win solidified the first-ever CIF wrestling championship in the entirety of Point Loma’s history.
Norban’s efforts and dedication span from her freshman year, throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and up to her senior year, which led to Norban making her mark on history and Point Loma forever. There was an incredible amount of pressure being a leader on her team, as she was expected to perform exceptionally well by her coaches, teammates, and herself. Norban was able to not only meet these high expectations but surpass them.
When asked on the matter of whether or not she would like to compete moving forward at a college level, Norban commented, “I don’t want to cut weight but I might join the UFC.” Norban was also asked if she had that “dog” in her, to which she responded, “Yes, I actually am the dog,” showing that she will always be a Pointer at heart.
While Norban was later defeated when she moved on to the Masters tournament by Vista’s Melina Lopez, there is no doubt that Norban will keep working diligently and earn numerous achievements and accolades along the way, making Point Loma proud!
