One of the great Pointer sports strikes again to start the school year as the women’s volleyball team jumps into action. The commencing of the fall season brought many students, alumni, and excitement. The home game against Olympian High School was as dramatic as it was thrilling. The Pointers took a commanding 3-2 comeback set win with the sets being only a few points apart.
Coach Olivia, an assistant coach on the team, provided insight with regards to how the girls as a team intend to execute their season. She noted “the matchup against University City [Senior Night] is the one we’re most excited for.”
That is the game where the season’s reputation may be at stake, however, the team, along with the coaching staff, believe it is one that they will be able to win, and end their season with a bang.
As a team, they are determined to continue developing their skills as a whole and continue to master fundamentals in order to elevate their game. Culture is another major principle they follow for creating a positive environment that is crucial for success, especially later on in life. Coach Olivia, along with the other coaches, said, “We expect a lot of heart within the team can help lead to winning on the court.”
This season for Women’s Volleyball seems to be a promising one as they prepare to battle into CIF playoffs in October.
