Our faraway foe, the sun, has met its match. With the recent shade installments in the quad, savage UV rays will no longer terrorize the students that call the quad their place of tranquility. Since the construction of Point Loma High in 1925, there has yet to be a defense system to deflect the sun’s heat. As of September 18, 2018 the first umbrellas combatted this ever-growing threat. I am happy to announce that the days of sunburns, pit stains, and dehydration at lunch are over.

These sporty maroon and gold umbrellas have been funded by our generous ASB who helped collaborate to get us the best umbrellas on the market. Like all nice things, the umbrellas are a large investment that require the utmost respect and care so they last many years. In order to maintain the quality of our shade, umbrellas will be checked out at lunch in exchange for your ID card.
I recommend rotating with your tablemates or designating a shade captain for the table. At the end of lunch the umbrellas will be returned to the umbrella cart. Remember to thank your ASB for bravely confronting our faraway foe, the sun.
